“I never knew my great grandmother / but I’ve always been told I have her skin” are the ambiguous yet stirring opening lines for a cut from Why Bonnie’s debut. Originally a solo project of songwriter Blair Howerton, the Austin, Texas-based band evolved into a four-piece. Their debut as a full band, In Water, is due February 16th with the help of the Austin-to-NOLA-based label, Sports Day Record.
The first single, “Made of Paper” is a pop jam swooning with pastel melodies. Gleaming with brilliant hooks and swelling harmonies, the track is effortlessly grandiose as Howerton relays her moments of clarity. Almost weightless instrumentals entwine with an ample of amount of emotions for a euphonious number.
