Sort of an offshoot of NOLA’s danciest band, Waveland is a solo project from IZE’s guitarist Daniel O’Connell. Like with IZE, O’Connell’s influences nod towards the minimalist post-punk. “Desperate” is the first preview of his forthcoming debut, Songs For The Wormhole.

Commencing with softly pluck guitars and palpable synths, the track moderately thickens from sparse to gingered yet flushed. Its gradual ascension sheds its delicately glitched melody and swells into a misty number. As O’Connell drowns in his tonic of despair, the lush harmonics will send you drifting to the nearest starfield.
