Mario Cuomo, frontman for The Orwells, professed in a column for NME that he didn’t believe in love until he dug into Songs For Dads, the debut EP from the Chicago-based, self-proclaimed “hunks,” The Walters. The band quietly dropped the EP late last year, and already recorded a few new tracks. The lead track, “I Love You So” is a magnetic opener with swaths of soft hooks, radiating harmonies, and a refrain to keel over for. Crooning on the mic, Luke Olsen yearns for escape from a fizzing relationship with cries of “let me go.” It just got a lot easier to make that break-up mix tape.
