On their latest single, Melbourne quartet, No Sister rattles the bones with the first preview of their upcoming LP. Previously the band had sporadically released tracks the last few years, with an identity that reflected the early sound of Sonic Youth.
Striking with unvarnished rhythms, “Overpass” is an imposing preview for what’s to come. Synthesizing the coldness of industrial music and the bolting melodies of no wave, is quite the departure from their previous tracks. In the thick of the calamity is a forceful voice from one of the band’s vocalists, as she contemplates the dullness in the everyday, while trying to make strides to break away.
No Sister’s self-titled record drops sometime next month.
