Hugh Vu and Will Taylor make up the Austin, Texas-based duo Loafer. In recent years the band has slowly leaked out material, including a split release with Hovvdy, which Taylor is also is a member of.

Loafer released a brief, two-track single earlier in the year titled Modern Warfare. Wrapped up in life’s most profound mystery on “Arbitrary”, Vu goes through the rituals and sameness of the everyday ad nauseam (“wake up just the same, as any other day”). Provoked by angst and motoring percussions, the three-minute twitchy banger makes monotony a compelling subject. Uniform rhythms vault their way into a motorik pattern, aptly imitating life.
