New York City-based musician Audrey Kang fronts the project Lightning Bug. With studio members Kevin Copeland and Logan Miley, Kang releases her second LP, October Song, in September. Following up her much praised 2015 debut, Floater, October Song is a close linear progression with the addition of electronics to their array of instruments.

Vision Scraps is a track that is both fevered and tender, recalling Say Isn’t Anything-era My Bloody Valentine. A heavy sheet of overloaded guitars are loud and abrasive, but just enough so the melodic undercurrents glisten through. Flowing with a motorik beat, the composition feels free and unrelenting, but with elements of quiet that adds a bittersweet element.

October Song is out now digitally and in cassette format via Marbled Arm. Lightning Bug shares a bill with Chris Cohen and Lina Tullgren at Rough Trade NYC on Saturday November 9th.
