Scaling with what seems like an infinite stream of zeal, Hideous Sun Demon stomps on the gas pedal and never let’s go. The Australian four-piece takes their name from the 1958 sci-fi horror film of the same name. Sharing the same unhinged urgency of their fellow Aussies King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, the band’s music is an explosive cocktail of power riffs and psych-freakouts.

Off of their most recent record, Industry Connections, the bombastic VITA Z is a high-energy trip that exudes manic intensity. Leading with snaky riffs and unbridled vitality, the track erupts with moshpit-triggering zing. The delirious delivery of frontman Vincent Buchanan-Simpson adds feelings of anxiousness to an already haywired banger. It’s a strange marriage of hair metal and punk that’s pretty much an energy drink in the form of music.
