Harriette Pilbeam, known for her work in Babaganouj, is embarking on a solo career under the name Hatchie. Recently Pilbeam released her debut single to much acclaim, as it quickly rose up the charts on Triple J Unearthed.

From the start, “Try” grabs a hold of your through it’s glistening aura, coated by the misty synths that make for a bubbly overture. Like the Cocteau Twins, Hatchie mixes pop with grandeur-sounding dream pop. At its apex, surges of jubilant instrumentation and swells with swathes of starry textures, evoking a permanent sense of bliss. Heartbreak is rarely this catchy and intoxicating.
