Ghost Camp used to be known as a band called Osaka, a name that they ditched early last year. Since then, they’ve been mildly busy, putting out their record Tamal in conjunction with their current Ghost Camp moniker. The self-proclaimed “witch-punk” New Brunswick, NJ four-piece has been steadily diverting their sound away from their shoegaze roots.

Their recently released “Heaven’s Gates” echoes the bustling garage-revival that got a lot of people excited at the turn of the century. Immediately you’re immersed in an avalanche of teetering guitars, uptempo bounce and faint electronics that resemble the spot on Julian Casablancas impression. Despite being a mere state away, this track is hemorrhaging New York City spontaneity.
