Since 2012, Aaron Powell has been making music under his moniker Fog Lake. The prolific Newfoundland-based Canadian has released two records in the past year, Captain and most recently Carousel. Incorporating the darker variation of lo-fi folk heard on previous Fog Lake efforts, Powell pays homage to doo-wop across six tracks.

The title track starts the record with watery keyboards and prickly arpeggio played in a slow plodding tempo that’s ghostly and sublime. Crackling in the track that’s either artificially imbued or a result from recording equipment adds an ambiance that’s bygone yet whimsical.
