Music reviews are carefully thought out pieces constructed after multiple listens and every element is turned over on the record or track. FIRST POUR is a feature that aims to bottle up the knee jerk reactions our writers have while listening to an album for the very first time. All writers participating in the feature will both be listening to the same album and relaying their thoughts and feels over instant messaging.

Author’s Note: The great writers over at The Grey Estates’ also have a similar feature that’s well done and worth checking out.

After a disbandment that lasted five years, indie-rock darlings Wolf Parade announced their much awaited return earlier this year, with a batch of global residencies in Toronto, New York City and London. Since their time away from the project, each member had their hands full with their respective projects such as The Divine Fits, Operators, and Moonface. Their reformation also came along with a brand new batch of tunes, EP 4, their first material since the release of Expo 86 back in 2010.

For this installment of First Pour, I chatted with our very own Trevon Turner, a son of the North and a big Wolf Parade fan, on the new EP, what the band means to him, and what to expect from their upcoming LP.
