After the completion and release of their untitled debut record, members of the Singapore-based group, Cosmic Child, thought they were done as a group. Two years later, the band recently released Blue, the follow-up to a record they claim to have “shat out in a week”.
The haze-boden track is spacious and placid with accents of agitation, courtesy of skewed guitars that periodically flare-up. Harken to Yo La Tengo’s Painful days, Cosmic Child have a synchronous motor that’s calming yet motorik. Painting a feeling of bleak hopefulness, “Blue / Green” is a lone car cruising through a fog-veiled freeway.
