Jordan McGuire has been through an assortment of projects in the past few years. While some have made it to the surface, possibly more have been guarded and scrapped. BULLET GIRLS is McGuire’s newest project and is preparing to release new material. While the word “new” evokes the idea of starting fresh, BULLET GIRLS inherits familiar elements that have been constant themes in McGuire’s music.
Dark and heavy pianos set the tone for “Afterglow”, the first preview of BULLET GIRLS material. The churning piano is looped throughout as quaking guitars stroll into frame. Sampled drums blur through as McGuire’s ethereal vocals entwine with the slow creeping clouds of thick guitars. There’s a hint of instrumental ad libbing on “Afterglow”, as McGuire has been at his freest and most amorphous.
