Teenager Claire Cottrill has been occasionally posting cluster of songs to her Bandcamp page since the later parts of 2014. Not yet out of high school, the songs of the Boston, MA native are filled with the bruised emotions that we’re accustomed to hearing (and feeling) on songs from songwriters decades older than her. Her most recent output is part of a split release with Keel Her for Third Floor Tapes.
The enchanting “Edith” possess those dissonant sounding chords heard in the music of Nick Drake, that almost makes it feel hypnotizing at points. Delicately understated, Cottrill’s hushed vocals peeking out of the pillowy acoustics that are tender yet catchy.
