FIRST POUR: Death Grips – “Bottomless Pit”

Music reviews are carefully thought out pieces constructed after multiple listens and every element is turned over on the record or track. FIRST POUR is a feature that aims to bottle up the knee jerk reactions our writers have while listening to an album for the very first time. All writers participating in the feature will both be listening to the same album and relaying their thoughts and feels over instant messaging.

The always divisive Death Grips released¬†Bottomless Pit,¬†their first collection of music after their alleged break-up. Making the statement on a table napkin, the trio insisted the group was nothing more than an “art project” that was based on “sound and vision”.
After completing the release of their assumed final record, the band embarked on an extensive tour without any mention of their future plans to the media. In their usual cryptic fashion, the band released a teaser/announcement for Bottomless Pit, the record that shouldn’t have been.
