Atlanta, Georgia-based lo-fi folk artist, Malcolm Hirsch goes by the stage name (and his middle name) Govier and is readying the release of his sophomore LP Predator (self-released and via Z Tapes) for this spring. The new record comes only a few months since the release of his debut (which we loved), Hermit Crab.
The first single “Have This Dance” is donned in the familiar austere folk that can only come from the whimsical mind of Govier. Lamenting over his insecurities, Hirsch spits out a vivid confessional to make up for his blunder(s) and to snap up a second chance. Propelled by lucid atmospherics and mousy electronics, the track is coated in a tepid haze that never overwhelms the subdued instrumentation.
