Sharkmuffin w/ Charly Bliss, Lost Boy ?, BOYTOY, Fruit & Flowers x Shea Stadium BK

Sharkmuffin celebrated the release of their anticipated debut LP Chartreuse (via State Capital) with a packed house at Shea Stadium BK. Temps were high at Shea, but it was hard to keep cool with the sweltering sets from the bands.

Psych-surf rockers, Fruit & Flowers opened the night with songs they hope to record soon for their debut release, including the recently shared single, “Turquoise.” Local trio, BOYTOY are readying their second LP Grackle (via PaperCup Music 10/2), and going on an East coast tour with a few dates opening for La Luz. They played material from their debut LP, plus gave a taste of Grackle with a few new ones. Lost Boy ? ripped through their set with old, recent material from their latest LP, Canned and brand new tracks.  They closed out with special guest Luke, from Bueno, on lead vocals for “Hemmorage” from the Canned LP. Coming off a recent tour supporting the reunited Veruca Salt, Charly Bliss got the crowd at Shea moving with their high-energy bubblegum rock, including tracks from their most recent EP Soft Serve.

Kicking off their month-long tour, Sharkmuffin played a killer set for the home crowd tearing through tracks like the beachy “Mondays,” and the unapologetic “Tampons Are For Sluts.” Lead singer and guitarist, Tarra Thiessen, got friendly with the crowd a few times, joining in a mini mosh pit, and stage diving into a crowd surf.
