Souldier On

A good chunk of the reason I’d choose time travel as my one superhuman power, had said opportunity would arise, is to go back to a time where music was filled with raw talent, raw emotion, and raw truth – ie. Otis Redding, Etta James, Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder. Those are the kinds of legends that still give you goosebumps as if it were the first time listening to them so many years later. Those are the kinds of legends whose souls will last a lifetime. They’re the reason we find ourselves reverting back to that time to find that feeling music gives us, and is lost amidst sick beats, a dropping bass, and artists that need to sample past greatness for their own success in the future.
Yet, not all hope is lost. A rise of purely talented musicians and soulful singers are bringing the simple kind of heat necessary to make us feel something again – and for that, I thank you.
Have a listen, and never stop.
